Treasure in Heaven

Jesus often compared this Earth, with its fleeting and vulnerable riches, to Heaven, whose treasures are secure and endure forever. He also emphasized the truth that our heart — our strongest attachment — follows our treasure: "…where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." (Matthew 6:21)

On this fallen Earth, our treasure will always be exposed to theft, decay, and loss. But we can send our treasure on ahead, to the secure vault of heaven, where it will last for eternity.

Earthly treasures, such as money and jewels, piled up for our own selfish desires and comfort, will remain on Earth after we are gone. However, heavenly treasure — acts of charity, compassion, kindness, and expressions of God's love and mercy directed toward others — sent on ahead, will await us there and will remain eternally.

The Salvation Army of Collier County is a Christian organization committed to serving human needs without discrimination.
